Peach Kamath

I am Filipina photographer based in Ahmedabad, born and brought up in Philippines and have settled in India in 2012 with my family. I am a proud Mom of two, Dev and Naomi, in my mid-30’s and forever 23 at heart!
My career in photography started in 2009, as Metrophoto’s lady photographer shooting mostly destination weddings while juggling a real (side) job in an investment bank. My husband Pravin and I started a child and family photography service in 2013 and eventually made my way back to weddings in 2015.
I am a fun-loving, no-fuss, free spirited individual who seeks for fun, real & unguarded moments, human connections & warm & loving embraces to photograph. My sessions are easy & my approach is fun. I direct poses when required, especially for my lifestyle & portrait sessions, but for the rest – weddings, events, documentaries, I only shoot in stealth. Space is an absolute necessity for people to be in their authentic selves as they savour a moment in their lives and for me to be able to capture all of it in its truest form. I look for light, but i chase moments. Having a good relationship foundation, being realistic and intuitive helps me a lot in capturing and weaving a story of every family i photograph.
I don’t know what my style is, but I can say that my character & personality shows a lot in my work – soulful, authentic, chaotic and imperfect.
When I am not shooting, i co-manage a community of female photographers from all over India, PFPI (Professional Female Photographers of India) and half of the year i am up on my toes planning for our annual PFPI meet-up which I have successfully organised for the past 5 yrs now. Being a Fujifilm Mentor, I also share a bit of my expertise in photography through talks being organised by Fujifilm India.
During my free time, I would be mostly with my kids playing, getting some alone time, in the kitchen whipping up Chinese, Filipino or Indian cuisines, salsa/bachata nights with the husband or in a random restaurant, pigging out! I am fascinated with nature and human behaviour. 80’s and 90’s music are my jam and Netflix to me is a luxury. I enjoy great conversations, good laughs, the beach life, quiet moments and hilarious memes! I am currently working on re-kindling my love for blogging, reading and in constant pursuit of good food and good sleep :p
Photographs to me, are a legacy; and the photographs I take of you, your loved ones and the important moments of your life are not just to tell stories to your next kin but to remind you of the life you’ve lived and the love you’ve shared with the people you are with at that very moment and make you yearn for those days again.
Yes, i travel for work!

TESTIMONIAL

My travels and my documentary work involves interacting with people and being unobtrusive while also keeping weight and bulk of my equipment to a minimum. All these factors combined with excellent image characteristics made me jump into the Fuji system with the X100S in 2013. Over the next few years, I travelled extensively with it and eventually, completely switched form DSLRs to the Fujifilm Mirrorless system. I now use them exclusively for all my work. For me the X System gets out the way and allows the photographer to actualize the vision while at the same time provides the quality and technological support needed for professional work. The design and usability makes the cameras invisible and helps it to gel well with documentary and travel photography to the point that I think it becomes an extension of the eye.
