X SUMMIT SYDNEY 2024 HIGHLIGHTS
Fujifilm X Summit May 2024 was held in Sydney on 16th May. Fujifilm announced the release of new GFX & X Series Cameras, Additionally, G-Mount & XF Lenses. Let’s check out the Newly announced products:
“FUJIFILM GFX100SII”
More Than Full Frame
“Fujifilm GFX100SII” was announced on 16th May 2024. The GFX100S II is equipped with a large format sensor approximately 1.7 times larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor. With a newly developed 102MP high-speed sensor, the “GFX 102MP CMOS II,” and the latest high-speed image processing engine, the “X-Processor 5,” all housed within a compact body weighing approximately 883g, making it the lightest in its series.
“FUJINON GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR” Go Further
The GF500mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR is a super telephoto prime lens that can capture images up to 500mm (equivalent to 396mm in 35mm format), making it the longest in the lineup of GF lenses. When combined with the Fujinon Teleconverter GF1.4X TC WR, which expands the lens’ focal length, it achieves a maximum focal length of 700mm (equivalent to 554mm in 35mm format). Despite being a super telephoto lens, it weighs approximately 1,375g and offers high mobility.
“FUJIFILM X-T50”
My Experience, My Color
“Fujifilm X-T50” was announced on 16th May 2024. The X-T50 is a compact and lightweight body weighing approximately 438g and features the back-illuminated 40.2 megapixel “X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR” sensor, the high-speed image processing engine “X-Processor 5, and a 5-axis, up to 7.0-stop in-body image stabilization function. In addition, for the first time, a Film Simulation dial is incorporated on the top plate allowing a user to easily switch between “Film Simulations”.
“FUJINON XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R
LM WR” The New Standard
The XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR is a standard zoom lens that covers a focal length range from wide-angle 16mm (equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format) to medium telephoto 50mm (equivalent to 76mm in 35mm format). It combines high resolution performance compatible with 40.2 million pixels X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR sensor throughout the entire zoom range and the lightest weight of approximately 240g among XF lenses for a zoom lens.
FUJIFILM have joined C2PA & CAI
FUJIFILM have joined C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) and CAI (Content Authenticity Initiative) as of May 16th , 2024
C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) addresses the prevalence of misleading information online through the development of technical standards for certifying the source and history.
CAI (Content Authenticity Initiative) led by Adobe is a working group to fight misinformation and add a layer of tamper-evident provenance to all types of digital content, starting with photos, video and documents.
WILDLIFE PHOTO TOUR HIGHLIGHTSD
The adventurous wildlife photo tour in Tadoba National Reserve, Maharashtra, took place from 31st May to 2 June, hosted FUJIFILM Wildlife Capture contest winners who enjoyed thrilling safari tours. They captured stunning images of tigers, various bird species, and more. The three-day Photo tour included a mentoring session by a Fujifilm professional, along with image sharing and Q&A sessions. They also tried Fujifilm cameras and lenses like X-H series & XF200mmF2 R LM OIS WR. This enriching experience combined the excitement of wildlife photography with expert guidance, creating an unforgettable adventure for all involved.
“BECOMING” A FILM BY LEENA YADAV & ASEEM BAJAJ
Becoming is a short film shot in Ladakh with Fujifilm GFX100II and Fujinon Premista lenses, this cinematic masterpiece showcases the brilliance of director Leena Yadav, cinematographer Aseem Bajaj, Music composer Shigeru Umebayashi and sound composer Resul Pookutty. The film showcase the mesmerizing portrayal of the spiritualization of Buddhism, delving into its underlying philosophy of the cycle of lives and rebirth.
‘BECOMING’ movie screening was held on May 18th, 2024, at PVR Juhu Mumbai in collaboration with Western India Cinematographers Association (WICA) & Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC). The screening was graced by the presence of esteemed filmmakers and veteran cinematographers & Actors. They expressed their delight at being part of the event, fondly reminiscing about the film. They also mentioned & praised Fujifilm GFX100II & Fujinon Lenses Performance over commercial screens like PVR.
Furthermore, BECOMING movie screening was also held on May 26th, 2024, at Prasad Laboratories in Hyderabad in association with TCA (Telugu Cinematographer’s Association. More such events are planned in the future across the country.
WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS
“The Magic of Wedding Cinematics”- Gautam Variya (UP)
A Magic of Wedding Cinematics workshop was conducted by our X Ambassador Gautam Variya on 8th – 9th May 2024, in Faizabad & Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The event drew budding and seasoned videographers eager to learn advanced techniques in cinematic storytelling, camera work, and editing, enhancing their skills with Fujifilm X series cameras to create stunning, emotionally compelling wedding films.
“Art of Wedding Photography”- Saravanakumar Thangavelu & Sriram Raghu (Coimbatore)
A workshop on Art of Wedding Photography was conducted by our X Ambassador Saravana Kumar Thangavelu and Sriram Raghu on 16th May 2024, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The event attracted aspiring and professional photographers, offering invaluable insights into storytelling, technical skills, and creative techniques, enriching participants’ abilities to capture the essence and emotions of weddings beautifully.
“Art of Street Photography” - Sudeep Bhattacharya (Bangalore)
An Art of street photography workshop was conducted by our X Ambassador Sudeep Bhattacharya on 18th May 2024 in City Market, Bangalore. The event attracted photography enthusiasts eager to learn about capturing the essence of urban life. Sudeep shared techniques on composition, lighting, and storytelling through Fujifilm cameras inspiring participants to see and document the beauty in everyday moments.
“Art of Wedding Photography” – Piyush Khatri (Bhopal)
Our X Ambassador Piyush Khatri conducted an engaging workshop titled “Art of Wedding Photography” on 21st -22nd May 2024 in Bhopal, MP. The session attracted both novice and experienced photographers, offering valuable insights into capturing the emotions and beauty of weddings. Piyush shared expert techniques using Fujifilm X & GFX series cameras on composition, lighting, and storytelling, enriching participants’ skills to create memorable wedding photographs.
“Old Delhi: Streets & Performances” – Sundeep Bali (Delhi)
A workshop titled “Old Delhi: Streets & Performances” was conducted by our X Ambassador Sundeep Bali on 21st May 2024 at kathika Cultural Centre & Museum, Delhi. The event drew photography enthusiasts eager to explore the vibrant life of Old Delhi. Sundeep guided participants through techniques to capture the dynamic street scenes and cultural performances, enriching their ability to document the area’s unique charm and energy.
Wedding photography & Videography Workshop - Roy Lawrence & Binu Manoor (Kerala)
A workshop on “Wedding Photography & Videography” was conducted by our X Ambassador Roy Lawrence and Binu Manoor on 28th May in Kasargod, Kerala. The event attracted photographers and videographers eager to enhance their skills. The duo shared expert techniques in capturing stunning visuals and storytelling, providing valuable insights into both photography and videography, greatly benefiting the participants.
