Equipped with the 102-megapixel large format sensor used in the flagship model “GFX100” of the “GFX Series”. The combination of the high-speed image processing engine “X-Processor 4”, the “Fujinon GF lens” that brings out an overwhelming resolution, and the color reproduction technology cultivated over many years in the photographic film enables high image quality of a different dimension. Even if you cut out a part of the photo and enlarge it, you can get a detailed depiction in every detail.
Uses a back-illuminated image sensor with excellent light-receiving performance. Despite the ultra-high pixel count, it achieves rich gradation expression and low noise that take advantage of the wide dynamic range. By suppressing overexposure and underexposure, it is possible to create a three-dimensional expression as if you were seeing it with the naked eye. In addition, the shallow depth of field unique to large format sensors allows you to enjoy depiction with rich bokeh.
High mobility due to compact body
In addition to downsizing the in-body image stabilization mechanism and shutter unit, the placement of various devices has been optimized. Despite being a digital camera equipped with a large format sensor, it has achieved a compact body with a mass of approximately 900 g, a height of approximately 104 mm, and a depth of approximately 87 mm.
High-strength magnesium alloy is used for housing. A highly rigid body is realized by designing the mount peripheral area, which is particularly susceptible to load, with sufficient thickness. It is also dust-proof, drip-proof, and has a low-temperature resistant structure of -10 ° C, so it can be used in harsh shooting environments. Demonstrates high holdability due to the grip that adopts a shape that fits comfortably in the hand. Equipped with a newly developed 5-axis, maximum 6.0-stop* in-body image stabilization mechanism. By optimizing the layout of the wiring that connects the camera shake correction unit and the camera board, we have achieved a smaller and lighter volume of approximately 20% and a mass of approximately 10% from the same unit of the “GFX100”. In addition, a high-performance gyro sensor and acceleration sensor have been adopted, and the vibration detection algorithm has been renewed. The image stabilization effect has been improved compared to the “GFX100”. You can shoot comfortably because you can strongly suppress blurring when shooting still images and movies that you hold.

Our original “film simulation” is newly equipped with a “nostalgic negative” mode that enables high-saturation and soft gradation expression. This mode reproduces the color tone of “American New Color”, which has established color photography, instead of black-and-white photography, which was the mainstream in the field of art in the 1970s.

Equipped with a high-speed, high-precision AF function, it is possible to capture the subject quickly and accurately.
A high-speed, high-precision AF function is realized by an image sensor with 3.76 million image plane phase difference pixels arranged on the entire surface (coverage rate of about 100%) and a high-speed image processing engine “X-Processor 4”. By renewing the algorithms for motion prediction and face/eye detection, it is possible to continue to accurately capture moving subjects and people, and never miss a decisive moment.
In addition, smooth AF is achieved even in a -5.5EV (* 1) environment such as in a dark room or outdoors with a brightness of about starlight. It is possible to shoot a subject with high accuracy even in a dark place.

Achieves smooth shooting with comfortable operability
Six custom positions C1 to C6 are placed on the mode dial on the top of the body. You can quickly recall your favorite shooting conditions registered in each position and shoot smoothly. Equipped with a still image/video selector switch. You can instantly switch between still image mode and video mode for comfortable operability.
Newly structured focus lever
A focus lever with a new structure has been adopted. The flat shape fits your fingers for comfortable camera operation. In addition to the new shape of the focus lever, the firmware has also been improved so that the focus position can be intuitively moved to the intended location.
Rear LCD monitor / Top sub LCD monitor
A 3.2-inch rear LCD monitor with a 100% field of view is also used. Since it supports 3-way tilt, you can easily shoot at high and low angles where it is difficult to use the electronic viewfinder (EVF).

In addition to the main shooting information such as shutter speed, aperture, sensitivity, and exposure, you can check the number of remaining shots when shooting still images and the shooting time when shooting movies. Achieves smooth 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. 4K / 30P 4: 2: 0 10bit recording is possible on the SD card in the camera. The HDMI output supports 4K / 30P 4: 2: 2 10bit, which can record more color information. When the DCI format (aspect ratio 17: 9), which is common for digital cinema cameras, is selected, the image size (* 2) is approximately 49.5 mm diagonal. The image size is even larger than the large sensor (* 3) that is being adopted in high-end cinema cameras, achieving not only excellent high-sensitivity performance, but also shallow depth of field and wide gradation expression. You can easily create high-quality images that depict the texture and stereoscopic effect of the subject, as well as the atmosphere of the place.

High compression efficiency “H.264” and “H.265 / HEVC” standards, “F-Log” mode capable of rich gradation image expression, “Hybrid log” that allows easy shooting of high dynamic range (HDR) images -Compatible with the “Gamma (HLG)” standard. In addition, the bit rate can be set up to 400 Mbps, and the expression method that suits the intention of video production is possible.
By using “NINJA V” (* 4) manufactured by ATOMOS, you can record as Apple ProRes RAW. By using video RAW data that has not been developed in the camera, exposure adjustment and color grading can be performed flexibly, enabling full-scale video production.
GFX100S will be able to output the RAW video data to Blackmagic Design’s Video Assist 7” 12G HDR and Video Assist 5” 12G HDR as “Blackmagic RAW” through HDMI up to 4K/29.97P 12bit (see Note-2 below)
•New firmware with this feature is supposed to be released by Blackmagic Design. •RAW video data gives maximum flexibility for exposure adjustment and color grading in post-production for professional videographers.Besides, simultaneous output of RAW with Film Simulation / F-Log / Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) to SD card in the camera is also available.
